The Light They Questioned… That Changed Everything

Ghada Abuhakmeh

When I first launched MYSKINBUDDY in 2016, I was facing two major challenges.

The first?
Convincing people to break up with their cleansing brushes.

At the time, rotary brushes were everywhere—but what many didn’t realize is that they could be too aggressive on the skin and, over time, harbor bacteria. I knew there had to be a gentler, more effective way to cleanse and treat the skin.

The second challenge?
Introducing green light therapy.

Back then, brands like Celluma and LightStim dominated the LED space—and honestly…

they still do.

And to this day, I feel incredibly honored (and a little bit in shock, if I’m being honest) that MYSKINBUDDY is even part of the conversation alongside them in the professional skincare world.

At the time, though, most devices focused on red and blue light only.

So when I added green light to MYSKINBUDDY…

Estheticians questioned it.
A lot.

And as a new business owner, I won’t lie—that was stressful.

I could have played it safe.
I could have removed it.
I could have followed what everyone else was doing.

But I didn’t.

Because science doesn’t follow trends…
science evolves.

And at the time, I was already seeing early research showing how promising green light could become.

Fast forward 10 years…

Now I’m watching celebrity dermatologists recommend green light therapy in-office and at home.

And instead of thinking “I knew it”…
I just feel really happy I didn’t give up on it.

Because I don’t believe in gatekeeping—
I want everyone to love LED as much as I do.

So What Does Green Light Actually Do for the Skin?

Green light therapy is a gentle LED treatment that helps brighten uneven skin tone, calm visible redness, support sensitive skin, and improve overall skin clarity. With consistent use, it helps skin appear more balanced, radiant, and refreshed.

Green light is no longer the “extra” setting.

It’s one of the most underrated tools in skincare—and one of the most supportive for long-term skin health.

1. Targets Uneven Skin Tone at the Source

Green light works at the epidermal level (the surface of your skin), where pigmentation lives.

It helps:

  • Reduce excess melanin production
  • Fade dark spots and discoloration
  • Improve melasma and sun damage

Studies show that narrow-band green light (around 505–525 nm) can reduce melanin levels by interfering with pigment-producing pathways, leading to visibly brighter and more even skin tone over time

2. Creates That “Glow” Everyone Is Chasing

When pigment becomes more evenly distributed, your skin reflects light better.

That’s literally what a “glow” is.

Green light helps:

  • Brighten dull skin
  • Improve clarity
  • Smooth the look of texture

And unlike temporary glow hacks, this is cumulative—results build with consistency over time

3. Calms Redness + Sensitive Skin

Green light is incredibly soothing and gentle.

It helps:

  • Calm inflammation
  • Reduce redness
  • Support sensitive or reactive skin

Because it works more superficially, it’s ideal for:

  • Post-treatment care
  • Over-exfoliated skin
  • Clients who can’t tolerate aggressive treatments

4. Supports Skin + Mind

One of the most fascinating benefits?

Green light doesn’t just impact the skin—it can influence how you feel.

Research suggests it may help:

  • Reduce sensory irritation
  • Promote relaxation
  • Support a calmer overall state

This is why many clients describe treatments as not just effective…
but peaceful

5. Safe, Gentle, and Made for Consistency

Green light therapy is:

  • Non-invasive
  • Non-UV (no risk of skin cancer)
  • Safe for all skin types

But here’s the truth:

It’s not instant.
It’s consistent.

Visible improvements typically build between weeks 4–8 with regular use

How to Use It in Your Routine

MYSKINBUDDY offers green light on Setting 3, paired with product infusion—which means you’re not just treating the skin…

You’re helping your skincare work harder.

If you really want to maximize your brightening results, pair it with Night Mode.

Why Night Mode + Green Light Works So Well Together

Night Mode was formulated to support skin renewal, recovery, and visible correction—making it the perfect partner for green light therapy.

It features:

  • 0.75% Retinyl Acetate
A gentle, effective form of vitamin A that supports skin renewal and cell turnover—without the irritation commonly associated with traditional retinol.
  • Honey Bee Defensin (vegan, lab-crafted)
Helps support skin signaling and repair by encouraging keratinocyte activity and overall skin regeneration.
  • Advanced Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)
Supports barrier repair, resilience, and overall skin recovery.
  • Hops Extract (Santahumol™)
Known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal properties—making it especially beneficial for stressed or reactive skin.

Together, this combination helps:

  • Improve skin tone and texture
  • Support recovery and repair
  • Enhance overall radiance

And when paired with green light + ultrasonic + ion infusion…

You’re not just applying skincare.
You’re amplifying it.

Why This Matters More Than Ever

We’re living in a time where:

  • Skin is more sensitive than ever
  • Over-exfoliation is common
  • People are chasing faster, harsher results

But sometimes…
what your skin really needs isn’t more intensity.

It needs balance.

From Questioned… to Clinically Backed

Green light went from:

“Why would you even include that?”

To:

“You should absolutely be using this.”

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned in this industry…

It’s this:

Don’t build based on what’s trending.
Build based on what’s coming.
