TECHNOLOGIES

LIGHT EMITTING DIODE (LED)

INFRARED THERAPY
Azure Orion and Radiance devices use ultra narrow spectral bandwidth high intensity SuperIntense LED light using top quality LEDs from Cree, Osram and KingBright. Identical to the spectral wavelengths and at the homogenous (even – ness of light pattern) and same power levels as large professional grade LED units.
The SuperIntense LED light emitted produces a number of biological and cellular reactions that include:
More effective and faster cell renewal via:
Improved absorption of vital nutrients needed for tissue repair Increased collagen production.
Collagen renewal leads to reduction of fine line wrinkles and softening of skin tissue
(Collagen replenishment is through an increase in stimulation of mitochondria [cellular healing] and ATP [energy] production)
Accelerated wound healing, dermal elasticity and pore improvement
Infrared:
- a) promotes elastin and collagen for improved skin firmness
- b) improves skin /dermal oxygenation and detoxification
- c) stimulates tissue renewal leaving skin with better tone and texture
Red (3 separate colors) :
- a) promotes elastin and collagen for improved skin firmness
- b) decreases skin redness and inflammation / increase in microcirculation
- c) stimulates tissue renewal leaving skin with better tone and texture
- d) normalizes dermal oil production and assists in pore reduction
Overview of Azure quality and build / support Practices
Tissue penetration in the specific red area spectra (Infrared is better at tissue penetration than other higher frequency visible wavelengths) requires both super intense power levels and even/homogenous power densities (Azure Radiance and Orion have 4 specific colors/wavelengths)
Azure devices stand alone in the home OTC skincare industry by providing tight tolerance LEDs , microstructured forming lenses, certifiable medical grade material constructs providing many times the LED level therapy than others.
And…we do the final assembly and packaging of units / performance testing and quality check and ship out of Los Angeles Area.

Is there real science behind this therapy?
The mechanism behind the effects of low-level light therapy (aka LLLT) is postulated to be through the absorption of Red and NIR wavelength light by mitochondrial chromophores, specifically, cytochrome c oxidase (CCO) found in the respiratory chain located within the mitochondria. This absorption of this photon energy may cause photodissociation of inhibitory nitric oxide from CCO leading to enhancement of enzyme activity, electron transport, mitochondrial respiration, and ATP production as a result. Further hypothesized is that LLLT (at these specific fluences and spectra), by stimulating/altering the cellular redox state may induce the activation of numerous intracellular signaling pathways; alter the affinity of transcription factors concerned with cell proliferation, survival, tissue repair, and regeneration.
Anti Wrinkle Light Therapy -- A Bit More Technical
The mechanisms of LED light therapy involve the absorption of specific wavelengths of light by a photo-acceptor molecule, which may be endogenously produced or synthesized and/or applied exogenously to the host. ( ref: Sodium Potassium Pump) Irradiation of the photo-acceptor molecule generates the production of cytotoxic singlet oxygen. A cascade of cellular responses is initiated, resulting in modulation of cell function, cell proliferation, and possible repair of compromised cells. This process of cellular function enhancement is referred to as “photo-biomodulation”. The selection of an appropriate wavelength and J/cm2 (Joules per square centimeter of the area) components are fundamental to phototherapy for photo-biomodulation as cellular reactions display specificity to irradiation (color of light) wavelengths and the time domain delivery of photon energy into a finite area of deposition. Numerous Journal Published (some Peer Reviewed) Clinical studies have demonstrated that in vitro irradiation of fibroblasts with 633-nm wavelength light increased pro-collagen synthesis fourfold from the baseline while exhibiting no effect on the activity of the collagen regulating proteolytic enzymes collagenase and gelatinase. Irradiation with this red light increased fibroblastic growth factor synthesis from photoactivated macrophages and accelerated mast cell (appearance of inflammation) degeneration. These in vitro results have been supported in a similar journal published clinical trials involving human subjects Additionally --- Numerous Journal Published (some Peer Reviewed) Clinical studies have also demonstrated that in vitro irradiation with Light in the 830-nm (near-infrared) wavelength is absorbed in the cellular membrane rather than in cellular organelles, which remain the target when using light in the visible spectrum. This I/R irradiation leads to accelerated fibroblast-myofibroblast transformation and mast cell degranulation. Also, chemotaxis and phagocytic activity of leucocytes and macrophages are enhanced through cellular stimulation by this wavelength. These in vitro results have been supported in a similar journal published clinical trials involving human subjects The synergistic effects of 633-nm and 830-nm wavelength at sufficient Joule protocols will enhance fibroblast proliferation and thus increase collagen synthesis as well as stimulate inflammatory cell lines such as mast cells and macrophages. Application of these light wavelengths within specific protocols and energy levels can result in improved skin rejuvenation such as are observed and noted in the studies and trials available for review in assorted Dermatology related publications. The addition of 605 and 660nm wavelengths are adjunctive to the primary 630 and 830 nm range spectra.
Photo Rejuvenation Infrared LED Light Therapy - How It Works
Infrared LED combined with 3 specific Red wavelength light therapy uses concentrated beams of light to penetrate beneath your dermis. It also stimulates cellular regeneration (collagen), leading to wrinkle reduction, improve pore size, soften or smooth skin texture, and reduce skin inflammation.
DEVICE INSTRUCTIONS
Start: Hold unit in your palm ( unit senses being held in your palm ), swipe thumb over indented area 2 times to tum on Treatment Mode.
Swipe your thumb 2 times to turn the unit off (Orion and Radiance will shut off after 7 minutes of “idle time” when the treatment LEDs are “off” to save Battery life).
It is safe and recommended to leave the device plugged into the wall charger when not in use but take note that the device will not turn on if plugged into the wall charger. When the wall charger is plugged in, the small blue LED light will blink as it’s charging and will turn solid blue and non-blinking when the charge cycle is complete.
Orion/Radiance have several audible sounds, timers and visual indicator LEDs for battery state, treatment time que and auto shutoff features. Please review the User Guide.
Note: Touch the Stainless-Steel ring to your skin OR use your thumb to contact the ring for treatment LEDs to illuminate. Orion and Radiance are effective on wrinkle areas when the lens and ring are actually touching or within 1/8th inch of skin contact-so if you use your thumb to contact the ring and turn on the treatment LEDs, be certain that the ring and lens are right up close to the treatment area!
How long does it take to fully charge the device?
We suggest charging your device for a full day (or overnight) prior to first use. The blue power light will change from a flashing light to a solid light when at full charge. Please always attach the charger even if it’s not in use. The Intelligent Battery Charge Circuitry will not overcharge or degrade the battery.
My device shuts off after 7 minutes if it’s not being used in treatment, is this as intended or a malfunction?
Nothing is wrong with your device. The device is programmed to turn off if it’s powered on but not turning on the treatment LEDs (about 7 minutes of idle time) to ensure that it is not inadvertently left on. Note that the device will stay turned on as long as you use it and the Treatment LEDs are "On" at any time within a 7-minute period. If it does sit idle for more than 7 minutes, switches off, and if you would like to treat additional areas of your face, simply turn the device on again and resume.
HOW TO USE
HOW TO USE
The Orion/Radiance units reduce facial wrinkles with a 3-minute a day per treatment area schedule. (See Fig 1 for treatment area examples). The device uses 4 different colors or wavelengths of high intensity LED light to stimulate collagen activity beneath your wrinkles.
Fig 1: Example of treatment areas. The following image and information will show swipe treatment paths and recommended methods to accomplish your wrinkle reducing goal.

The treatment method is simple. Select a treatment area and use Orion/Radiance 3 minutes a day on that treatment area for at least 5 days a week for a period of 8 weeks. The Orion/Radiance will beep every 3 minutes to alert you that the session is concluded for that area of treatment.
See FIG 1 for treatment area examples. Keep the treatment area for each 3-minute session small and localized 3 inches along those lines of dashes shown in FIG 1 for best results. Select a few manageable treatment areas to “concentrate on”. Facial wrinkles did not appear overnight and they will not disappear overnight either.
PRODUCT SUGGESTIONS
Do I need to wash my face prior to using?
For best results, we recommend prior cleansing or even a light exfoliation to removes oils, lotions, makeup, or other debris. After treatment you should wipe down the device lens with a soft cloth or alcohol wipe.
Can I use serums and skincare?
Azure's Clinical Device trials were done on clean dry skin, but if you are going to use skincare with the device, we suggest quality non-reflective serums and ingredients.
Do I hold the device in one spot or glide it?
During treatment, glide the device on your target treatment areas. We suggest keeping your treatment area for each 3-minute session small and localized (following a 3-inch path). The light of the device will penetrate the skin so there is no need to apply pressure during treatment. (Please look at the “Quick Start” manual inserted in the packaging which has an image of the advised treatment paths. Follow the examples back and forth, just a few seconds each.) Refer to image below for suggested movement and treatment direction.
